I'm not sure why it struck me like it did last evening but I was checking the OLF and suddenly it dawned on me. I can ask a question about building a freakin' guitar, and you know I mean ANY question, and there's a chance someone from Quebec Canada (you know who you are), or England, or Minnesota, or Michigan, or New Zealand, (edit) or the great country of Arkansas, who I may never meet, that will respond within 5 or ten minutes with an answer. I think I get a bit numb to the magic in that process and how easy it is to communicate INTERNATIONALLY but as I think about that for just a second I just start trippin'. Sure we could all build guitars without the help of so many on this forum, and they would sound great, and look great, but IT WOULD NOT BE THE SAME. We could keep our (well, yours actually since I am so new) secrets to ourselves and the beauty of the guitars to ourselves and we could figure it out all by ourselves. But again it would not be the same. We could do it alone and that would be OK but you know what? I'd rather do it with you guys and gals. So a hearty thanks to everyone here and I'll just keep trippin. Larry |

Great points Larry! I've been on this forum for years now and could never have built a single guitar without the unselfish help from out more experienced brethern. Not only the technical assistance, but more importantly to me is the cameraderie and true friends I have established because of the OLF. Let's also not forget the deals we are able to take advantage of and such events as group buys, auctions and garage sales. ...and this is all free!...but I would encourage anyone who can justify the optional subscription to the forum to become a subscriber. It helps to keep the forum running...and that operation isn't free! |

and i built my first all too many years ago, and still i keep learning things from those who choose to share their knowledge here, and on other fora. hardly a week goes by that i don't come across something which makes me question how i do something, how i can do it better, whether i should do it at all, and just as importantly, shows things i don't want to ever do. would have been nice to have had the resources available back in 1970. |

As a newcomer to both the forum and the craft of building, I'd like to add my appreciation for the patience and the helpfulness of all who contribute their knowledge and experience. I try to do my homework first; check in the books that I own and search in the archives, but I'm very happy not to have to feel gun-shy about posting a question. Anyways -- thank you all for being who you are! |

I know that my learning curve has shortened a whole lot because of this forum and the freedom of sharing that prevails here... This is my no.1 go-to spot when I'm in trouble (happens more often than I'd like to admit ![]() Gotta love the net! |
